Performer - Choreographer - Educator

Al Evangelista is an interdisciplinary artist whose creative process engages with social justice and performance studies. Currently a CEW+ Scholar and MFA Dance Candidate at the University of Michigan, Al's research seeks ways in which dance and theatre can provoke and create positive change.

Al has choreographed works that have been performed at Steppenwolf Garage, Links Hall, American Theatre Company, Chicago’s Night Out in the Parks, Bharat Rang Mahotsav Festival, University of Chicago, University of Michigan Museum of Modern Art, and Hill Auditorium.

He has also danced in pieces for Dance Exchange, Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, The Inconvenience, Links Hall as well as acted and performed at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Adventure Stage Chicago, Haven Theatre Company, among others.

Al trained with the Steppenwolf West program, American Conservatory Theater, and is a graduate of UC San Diego.
